Mosquito Bites - Stop the Itching

Nothing annoys more than that little buzzing noise you hear of a mosquito flying around your bedroom late at night. Well, one thing does - the itch of a bite. So, how do you go about stopping it?

To figure out how to stop the itching, it first helps to understand why an itching sensation develops. Surprisingly, you will not “itch” the first time you are bitten by a mosquito. This buy Allegra online because the mosquito injects saliva and anti-coagulants into your skin to facilitate the feeding process. Your body will not react to these on the first bite. On subsequent ones, it will with a red bump appearing and the itching sensation.

The actual reaction is due to a slight histamine allergy response. In nearly everyone, this allergy response is revealed by the simple itching sensation. In a small minority of people, however, a bite can produce a major allergic response with anaphylactic shock being a serious problem. With anaphylactic shock, the throat will actually close up cutting off air flow and resulting in possible death. Obviously, this is a worse case scenario, but it does happen.

So, how do we stop the itching sensation? Well, the key is to introduce something that counters the allergic reaction sensation. There are topical treatments you can buy at any drugstore. Personally, I’ve found they don’t really seem to work all that well. This is why I look to other solutions.

I once spent a month in Costa Rica. Costa Rica is hot and muggy, perfect mosquito country. Although I used All Terrain mosquito repellent with no problems, I often missed places when applying it to my regret. I had bites behind my ears and so on. The best solution I found for killing the itching sensation was…toothpaste! I’m not sure why it works, but it does.

If you are at home, a second solution that also works can be found in your kitchen. Vinegar! Just dab a bit on the bite or bites if you are so lucky to have multiple ones. It will sting for a second and then stop itching.

In truth, there are many other ways to battle the itch of a mosquito bite. The key is not to itch it and apply something that will counter the allergic reaction. People have reported everything from Preparation H to ammonia to ice cubes as being effective. It doesn’t really matter so much as you stop that itch.

What is Affiliate Marketing Anyway?

What is affiliate marketing? In a nut shell, associate programs, or affiliate marketing as it is more commonly referred to, are basically re-selling someone else’s product or services. Generally affiliate programs on the internet are free to join. So it is easy to start an affiliate marketing business from scratch. You simply join the program(s) of your choice and begin marketing the affiliate link provided by the affiliate program owner. Well, at least in theory… This method usually don’t work. Here’s why:

Two Conversion Secret Tips

1. Most prospective customers won’t buy on the first visit. It generally takes at least seven visits to convert a prospect into a customer.
2. You will need a way to convert the prospect into a customer. Yes I am talking about list building.

But before we go any further, I have a question to ask you. When you send a prospect to your affiliate sales letter, who gets the ultimate benefit of your time, money and efforts? Answer: It’s not you. The product owner does, here’s why? The product owner knows the secret to conversion. (And I just gave them to you above) If they are any kind of marketer at all, they will have a list for your visitor to join and they get to promote offers to them over and over again. Guess what? You are left out in the cold, without a pot to piss in, if they decide to promote someone else or a different program other than the one you sent the visitor. Fact: Your affiliate link will only ‘cookie’ your id for that one particular offer you send your visitors to and only for a limited time. Generally, 30 to 90 days. Some really good affiliate providers set there cookies for up to a year.

Affiliate Marketers have A.D.D

Now just because a program is free to join and market doesn’t mean it is right for you. I have seen many people including myself, join more affiliate programs than there are stars in the sky, with the intention to market them and we never do.  It’s like affiliate marketers have A.D.D. At least, I did.

We jump from one program to another and the only thing that gets accomplished is a bunch of junk mail floating around in our in-box that we never read and hours of work that never gets finished. Don’t be like me or 75% of other affiliates out there that join the latest, greatest new thing, just to turn around and join the next latest, greatest thing by the next day.  I have learned my lesson. I hope you have learned from my lesson as well. It is a big time waster. And Time = Money.

How to Add Or Replace a Graphics Card

Note, always make sure you are grounded, and watch where your hands are when you are inside of your computer.

These instructions assume you have Windows XP. If you don’t have this system, don’t worry, it still should be similar, especially for Vista or Windows 2000.

I like to uninstall the old graphics card before I install the new one. The process for this is simple. Left click on the “Start” menu. Right click on “My computer,” then from the drop down menu, choose properties. Click on the “hardware” tab from the small window that is now opened. Now, choose the “Device Manager” button. You will now have a “Device Manager” window. Click on the “+” next to “Display adapters.” This will now list the adapters. Normally you will have just one. Sometimes you will see two or more listed, so you may have to repeat the next step twice or more. It depends on the card you have, or if you have multiple cards. Now you will right click on the adapter(s) listed, choose “uninstall.” Click “ok.” It should ask you to restart. Click “cancel.” You will be inserting a new card, so you don’t want to restart, you want to fully power down the machine. Do that now. Make sure you choose “shut down.”

Once your machine is off, make sure you at least unplug power to the computer for your own safety, and the safety of the machine. It may be to your advantage to just unplug everything so you can take your computer to a convenient place to perform the operation.

It’s time to open the computer case. Use your observation skills and observe the case. In many instances there will be screws on the back that hold the side panel on. Some DELLs will have buttons on the top and bottom to release the case. If you are confused, try to look up your model number on the website of your computer manufacturer, and you may be able to find instructions there. Open the computer case.

Once you are inside, locate the PCI, PCIe, or AGP slots. Or you are going to locate the old graphics card. Touch a piece of metal of the computer case to release any static charge, so you don’t damage anything inside. You can purchase a static releasing wrist band that connects to the case if you want to be extra careful. Using this wrist band generic Cialis be the recommended and safest approach. PCI slots are usually identical and arranged side by side. Many motherboards have two or more. The old graphics card will likely be the card that the computer monitor was connected to.

You will now remove the old graphics card, if you had one. Your monitor may have been connected to the integrated graphics card. You won’t be removing this one. Now, let’s remove the old card. You may need a screwdriver. DELL machines and others, you may not need one. DELLs sometimes have a hinged retainer holding in the computer cards. Take out the screw or open the retainer that holds the graphics card. Grab each top side of the card and pull straight up to pull out the card. Watch out not to pull on the resistors or other electronics parts that are sticking out of the card. Remember to stay grounded.

Take the new card and place it in the slot you just took the old card out of, that is, if this card is made for the same type of slot. If not, you simply locate the slot. If you are unsure, you can easily locate the slot by observing the card and the slots and carefully match them up with the right slot. Ok, so carefully line the card up and firmly, but not forcefully push the card straight down into the slot. Push from the top of the card. Again, don’t force it. If you need force, look at your card and the slot and make sure you have the right card for the slot. Screw the card back in or put the retainer back. Hook up any extra power connections the card requires. The manual of the card should let you know.

Now, put the case back together. Plug everything back into the computer, and turn the computer back on.

Perhaps your Operating System will recognize the card and install the correct driver automatically. Many times it will not. You should have a driver CD, insert it, follow the instructions and your card should be ready to use. You may also try and find a newer driver from the chip manufacturer site, like Nvidia.com, or ATI.com. Again, follow instructions and download and install the driver.

Corporate Tai Chi Now - 7 Elements to Show Why Five-Minute Corporate Tai Chi is Profitable Now

Corporate Tai Chi is the business application of tai chi, a martial and meditative system of exercise. It holds many alternatives for the corporate world as a stress management tool and an attitude enhancer. For those unfamiliar, tai chi is the slow, fluid movement originating from China, practiced at parks, studios and beaches throughout the world. It has been taken to the corporation because of its synergistic fit and cascading benefits.

It has been demonstrated worldwide that certain drivers predict employee productivity which drives profit. I will touch upon seven: stress, recognition, leadership, benefits, environment, economy and industry competition. They are all related to each other, one affects the other and they are all affected positively by corporate tai chi.

STRESS
People become stressed from not Mad Money a “relief valve” system in their corporate structure, no matter how much they enjoy their work. Corporate tai chi offers this relief. Daily, there are studies citing how stress at work is directly related to revenue stream and how employees function at a higher level without it. So one could conclude that less is more. Less stress, better health and on-task focus. Better health, less sick time. More time on task, more productivity. Better focus, higher task completion. More productivity, more profit.

RECOGNITION
It is a known fact that one of the biggest drivers of productivity is employee recognition. Many people say that the number one reason they leave a job is because no one has praised their worth, that they are invisible. The installation of enhanced working conditions such as corporate tai chi or other mind/body programming is one way to recognize employee worth, comfort and value. This is demonstrated by the popularity, low turnover and stability of companies today, like Google, best-known for giving this holistic type of recognition. Less turnover, less expense. Less expense, more profit.

LEADERSHIP
The strength of the leadership in a corporation strongly influences productivity. If you are loyal to your leader, you will produce more. If corporate tai chi is installed, you will see a more balanced leadership as the program diminishes the stress levels of the leadership. If the leadership is calmer and more focused, it will be more efficient, with more presence, with better direction. If leadership installs effective programming to balance the team, productivity rises. Of course, loyalty to leadership means better work. Better work, more production, more revenue.

BENEFITS
When you think about it, the expression “what’s in it for me” may come up, whether we are attached to the principle of trade outlined in Ayn Rand’s book, “Atlas Shrugged,” where we agree that it is our responsibility to produce for our own benefit or whether we study humility. As employees, we look for benefits, even if the benefit is benefitting others. As leadership, we do the same thing. Corporate tai chi is a benefit that has the potential to destress, recognize, tune up and. ultimately, increase revenue. Worth considering.

CORPORATE CULTURE
A peaceful corporate culture is a strong one. People take on the qualities of their surroundings. Because tai chi creates balance, energy and motivation; corporate tai chi has the chance to create worklife balance and elevated culture. The peaceful result of tai chi practice has the chance to permeate the corporate environment and revitalize it. As the corporate culture grows, the employee feels more at home. The more devoted the employee, the more s/he is likely to stay. The less turnover, the less expense. The less expense, the more profit.

ECONOMY
Most of the world does not have expertise in economy. What we know is how many jobs are available and how long it takes us to get another one if we lose or quit one. Because our economy is in stress, corporate employment is insecure. The more a company invests in the employee and her/his job, the more the employee values the job and dreads the pink slip less. If corporate tai chi or some meaningful program that directly benefits the employee is installed, people feel more secure because the company has made the investment in them. If corporate tai chi beats stress, helps focus, enhances worklife balance; employees, potentially, supercharge their production levels. If rightsizing causes people’s job descriptions to inflate to accommodate the duties of the no-longer-employed; a “relief valve” tool like corporate tai chi helps overall. More productivity, more revenue.

COMPANY COMPETITION
There are lots of statistics about how people choose one company over another factoring in benefits package, job title, location of company, the company’s position and a great deal more. If company A and company B offer the same position and benefits package, but company B has a corporate tai chi program, company B would beat its competition and win the employee. This is an oversimplified look at some of what people leverage when comparing companies. Once an employee is with a company, the more the company invests in the employee, the more leverage it maintains against its competition. The more leverage, the more stable the employee. The more stable the employee, the better work performance. The better the performance, the more revenue.

CONCLUSION
In order to excel, we have to embark upon new territory as well as take wisdom from the past. Tai chi is an old discipline that achieves tremendous effects. Marrying it with corporate life seems to hold the values of the old with the trends of today, thus: corporate tai chi has arrived. There is a study in developmental stages to more definitely correlate corporate tai chi and increase in revenue. But the elements described above try to verify this conclusion.

Diane Gold is available for corporate and personal tai chi, kung fu, chi kung, stress management, consulting. Training is available traditionally and virtually. How to Train Your Cat to Stop Scratching Your Furniture

As first time mortgage cat owner, one of your main priorities will be to train your cat to prevent it from scratching your furniture. Not only will this save you money and a great deal of irritation, you will also have a better relationship with your cat.

The first step is to try and understand why a cat will scratch your furniture. Your cat doesn’t do this because it wants to annoy you, nor does it purposely set out to do this because it dislikes the furniture you have. The simple fact is that cats love to scratch. Scratching is a natural cat behavior, and you cannot prevent your cat from doing this. However you can train your cat to scratch something else, other than your prized furniture.

Cats need to scratch in order to stay healthy. Scratching allows a cat to stretch and exercise their muscles. Cats paws have scent glands and scratching helps them to leave a scent in order to mark their territory. Your cat will also scratch as a means of keeping their claws sharp and clean. As you can see, there are a few reasons as to why cat scratching takes place. Rather than trying to limit this cat behavior, you should encourage it, but on your terms.

The one thing that you should never do is to punish your cat if you catch it scratching the furniture. Cats will not respond to punishment. If you try to punish your cat, all you will do is show the cat that you are someone who must be avoided. Even if you chase your cat away when you catch it scratching furniture, all it will do is to wait until you have gone, and then continue to ruin your furniture behind your back. The only way you can stop your cat from scratching furniture, is by the correct training.

The first thing that you must do when you get a cat is to buy a scratching post. It will e even better if you can get hold of a few scratching posts, as this will allow your cat to have more options to scratch. Although a cat can be trained to use a scratching post at any age, the earlier you can start to train your, the better it will be for you, your cat, and especially your furniture.

You should place the scratching posts in your cat’s favourite places. One of the best places to place a post is near where your cat sleeps. The first thing that a cat likes to do when it wakes up, is to stretch and have a good scratch. You could say that this is a trait that the rest of us share. Once your cat becomes used to using scratching posts, it becomes a habit, and cats are creatures of habit.

Another good place to put scratching post, is in an area where you and other members of the family sit. Cats do want to spend time with their owners, even though at times it seems that they are not really bothered. If your cat decides that it wants to use your lap for a bit of a snooze, it will be handy to have a scratching post nearby when it decides to wake up.

The best way to train your cat to use a scratching post, is to make it familiar to your cat. Try playing with your cat by moving string up and down the post, so your cats claws come in contact with it. You could tie some of your pet’s favourite toys onto the post, this will encourage your cat to make contact with the post with its paws. Just by using these simple methods you will easily be able to teach your cat to use the post instead of your furniture.

Make sure that the scratching post is not too short, and make sue that it is firmly in place. Cat training is not difficult if you use the right methods, and it is easy to train your cat to stop it from ruining your furniture.

Today it is ranked … wait for it … number 426.

It is beaten out of sight by sites which have nothing to

I asked a search engine expert about this and he suggested

Introducing Cats

Introducing cats free car insurance quote one another can be a little tricky. It should be a slow and gradual process in which both cats are first introduced by sight and scent. Once they are aware of each others presence, it is then time for them to meet face to face.

The amount of time it takes your cats to get used to each other will depend on the personalities of your cats. The typical sight and scent introduction period should last for a couple days.

Allow your new cat to have his or her own room for a little while. The new cat should be able to explore the house if they are inclined to do so, but again, do not allow direct interaction with your other cats until they are comfortably aware of one another.

A few things you can do to help improve the results from the sight and scent period can be to switch rooms with the other cats. Exchange items such as toys and beds. Allow them to sniff each other under the door and let your present cats explore the new animals home room, while the new cat explores the rest of the house.

After a while, your cats should be able to interact. Gauge whether or not your cats will have a good introduction by how they respond during the sight and scent period. When it is time to officially meet each other, choose an open space in your house and keep a close eye on their interaction.

It is a good idea to have several plates of fresh chopped cat nip or other treats for the meeting occasion. Watch the body postures of your cats and be aware of any problem signs. Arched backs, twitching tails and sideways postures. These are all signs of aggression! If this behavior occurs, take your new cat back to their home room and continue with the scent and sight period.

It is always possible for your cats to get into a fight so have a broom handy just in case! Do not attempt to break a fight up with your hands or you may get a nasty cat bite. If you get the feeling that a fight may occur while introducing your cats, separate them immediately.

Remember that some cats are more territorial than others so the adjustment period will depend on the personalities of your cats. A gradual “sight and scent” introduction is usually best among new arrivals because it gives cats a chance to get used to one another. Always watch your cats closely during their initial introduction and be ready to deal with any problems that may occur when introducing your new cats.

Wait! Don’t give up on your cat… A well planned behavior program may be all your kitty needs. Visit catutah for some advice and resources on how to deal with www.catutah.com/reviews/product1.htmlcat behavior problems and more advice on introducing cats.

Kill the Watcher at the Gates of the Mind - Part II

So why do we need to kill this Watcher? Because he/she is our captor, the prison guard of the imagination, of creative expression. The one who does not want us to be released to flow with our muse. I am minded when I work on this process of the legitimate murder of infinite possibilities by allowing the Watcher to keep control. Plato’s allegory of the cave in “The Republic” comes winging into my thoughts. In the cave the prisoners face a blank wall on which shadows are projected. This is as close as the prisoners get to experience reality and therefore think it is reality. The true philosopher is like a prisoner who has escaped from the cave and comes to understand that the shadows aren’t reality, what is outside is real. Of course if he went back inside to tell the prisoners who were still captive and told them what was outside, he would be ridiculed. I liken Killing the Watcher to this process. Get out of that cave, and then does it matter when you go back and tell those still captive what you have seen that you are ridiculed? At least you broke free.

One of the first things I ask students to do when I work with them on creative writing courses - whether it be online or at universities - is a little exercise I call “Drop the Slop”. Other people have called it different things but it is much the same process. Julia Cameron in her excellent book “The Artist’s Way” calls the process Morning Pages. I have great respect for Cameron and her writings, have read them myself and would recommend “The Artist’s Way” but I never called the process Morning Pages since I used to do the practice whenever I was stuck or just as a mental warm-up before the main work out (i.e. the story I was working on). Night-shift workers who want to write a bestseller but who sleep till midday before committing to their writing won’t be doing Morning Pages either. Other people call it automatic writing. Hell, it doesn’t matter what it’s called the process is fluid enough to be called anything. I call it “Drop the Slop” because the term is evocative for me.

Basically get your self a pen and notepad (or if you can’t face looking at your scrawly writing a keyboard will do, though it doesn’t work as well for me) find some place to be alone where you are not going to be interrupted and just take half an hour or so to write about a thousand words. That’s roughly three to six pages of A4, the discrepancy in number being dependant on the size of your handwriting. Just write. Write out the slops.

In the UK there is a process in prisons called “slopping out” which is basically the taking out of the cells in the morning the bodily wastes or human excrement passed the night before. So I use the metaphor to apply to getting rid of all the waste in your mind. And to do this you’ve just got to get out of the way and dump the mental faeces on the page. It’s predominantly an unconscious process because it helps to write before you’ve thought about it

As I wrote in Part One it is eminently desirable for growth and creativity to bypass Schiller’s “watcher at the gates of the mind”, the one who censors you, tells you how pathetic you are. Bypass or even annihilate, terminate or grind into pieces. Your gremlin in other words, your self-censor. The process lets your creative writing out of the cave. I’ve devised a full day’s workshop around the concept of “the watcher at the gates of the mind” and it’s astonishing the things we won’t allow ourselves to express because of gremlins, censors and conditioning. Drop The Slop will help you kill this Watcher.

What you need to do is just fill up those pages with whatever comes into your mind or psyche and not look at the results afterwards until you’ve done about ten days to two weeks of them. Because if you do you will make judgements on them and the point of this exercise is not to judge the quality but to “Drop the Slops”. The self-criticisms, the doubts, the fears, the “I-can’t-do’s”. It’s these kind of slops that stop us going forward in the first place. And never, ever show these slops to anyone else. Except when you are proud of the product. After you have dropped the slops you see, good stuff might out.

When I tried this exercise for the first time I wrote a lot of drivel and obscenities. After about four or five days I started this dramatic dialogue with myself that went on for about a year (on and off). The other side of myself - what I dared call my Higher Self - used to rib me about spending too much time in the pub. I used to riposte that a writer’s job was a very lonely one - I lived alone then - and having spent all day at home working I needed to get out. Higher Self wasn’t having any of it: I was squandering my talent, get on with it. (There have been times in my life when I have been the President of the United States of Procrastination.) Anyway the dialogue became in places quite profound (well for me) and no longer was I dropping the slop. Once you have dropped the slop you never know what might come out (if you’ll excuse the expression.) Give it a try. Don’t condemn yourself at looking at shadows on the wall when you are doing your creative writing, get out there and see the real stuff. And when you come back and tell the prisoners who are still chained to the wall and they laugh at you, remember you’ve been somewhere they haven’t. And today’s eccentrics are tomorrow’s pioneers. Cyril Connolly once said: “Better to write for yourself and have no public, than write for the public and have no self.”

(Be mindful that the whole “Conversation with God” series was written by the author Neale Donald Walsch just turning up at the page and getting out of the way. And look what it did for Mr Walsch.)

I have been writing professionally since 1976 for stage, TV and radio with forays into journals and magazines. Prior to that I was an actor, theatre director and stage manager, though I trained as a journalist. I also host workshops whenever I am invited, which, originally theatre-based, have increasingly ventured into the world of self-development, empowerment and healing after I discovered I had a gift for the latter (more about which can be found on my website, address below). I have taught at a number of universities, in fact I still do, and I have just started offering an online creative writing course, details of which can be found at The Write Inn link below.
